Culinary artist, food sovereignty educator, and writer Sara Calvosa Olson (Karuk) is dedicated to uplifting Indigenous foodways and the reciprocal relationship between people and native plants. She is the author of Chími Nu'am: Native California Foodways for the Contemporary Kitchen, a resource that fuses food writing, ecological stewardship, and cultural revitalization. Through her research and collaborations, she helps reframe the narrative around California Native plant foods—applying traditional ecological knowledge to modern sustainability efforts and making ancestral ingredients more visible, relevant, and rooted in today’s culinary landscape.
